I recently finished reading the book of Ezekiel. There are quite a handful of truth nuggets in that book! But, one struck me that I had never considered before.
According to Ezekiel 1:3, this particular prophet was a priest. But, he was also taken from his land by the Babylonians in the first wave of exiles. Have you ever considered how difficult it might be to perform priestly duties when you are hundreds of miles from the temple where those duties are to be performed?
That is exactly where Ezekiel was - a priest without a temple. A priest who really and truly had a passion to serve but was without an outlet to serve.
And then came the visions.
What strikes me most powerfully about this is that many of Ezekiel's visions revolved around the temple. God was taking Ezekiel's heart and using it - maybe not exactly the way Ezekiel would have chosen or even considered, but still in a way very appropriate to his passion.
Many of us have passions. Some of them we know and identify. Others of them seem far-fetched, and sometimes even hard to pinpoint. Whether we can identify them or not, many of them seem so out of reach that we lose hope and do not even begin to fathom that God could breathe life into them.
And then He flings open doors whose existence we never even began to imagine!
What Christ-centered passions do you have that seem impossible? What walls are you pressing against that seem immovable? Just hang on! God has a door. He has a way! He is going to use you when the time is ripe, and you cannot even begin to fathom how fantastic His plan will be!
