Challenge: His Power

For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.  Col 1:29  NASB

I am always striving.  Striving to do this.  Striving to be that.  Striving to accomplish success for the kingdom, for my church, for my family.  But according to whose power am I striving?

Sadly, typically it is according to my own power.  Which means my striving is pretty unproductive.

Amazing things happened whenever Paul was around.  Not all of them were pleasant for him, or even for those around him, but they were still pretty awesome.  And they all succeeded in expanding the kingdom of God and spreading His Truth.  Why?  Because Paul was striving according to the power of God, and His mighty works were being accomplished as opposed to the insignificant works which would have resulted from Paul’s own power.

Every day I will expend energy trying to accomplish the tasks set before me.  The question is, will I rely on the strength and power that lies within me, or will I rely on God’s power?  If I rely on my own, the results will seem far too pitiful to be worth what was put into them.  If I rely on God’s, though, the results will be amazing.  I am challenged to rely on His.
