I can imagine you’re wondering how in the world Tic Tacs and Red Hots can be a helpful hint. Well, believe it or not, they were for us starting a couple of months ago!
My oldest is to the age now that she really needs to take medication in pill form. Especially stuff like Claritin, which is so expensive and which she has to take so much of when it’s in children’s form! But, she just couldn’t figure out how to swallow a pill. It was pure trauma, and I hated to force it on her.
Then one evening we were visiting with some friends, and they told us that their parents taught them how to swallow pills by getting them to swallow Tic Tacs and M&M’s! How brilliant is that? None of that nasty taste when they don’t go down immediately!
So, we tried it. Except we used Red Hots instead of M&M’s. Because, after all, why waste a delicious M&M by just swallowing it?
And it worked! We gave them to both of our girls, and they both can now swallow pills without a second thought.
For the record, there are some brilliant parents out there. I’m glad some of them are my friends!
